Sara Bomans

I started drawing with hair in 2005. Perhaps I should call them embroideries, as the drawings are made purely by sewing hair through paraffin paper. I put selfmade pictures under the paper to pierce tiny holes on anchor points. Then I go through the holes with one hair, without a needle, in order to keep the holes as small as possible. No glue or pen is used. The themes vary a lot, like a series of industrial landscapes, surreal combinations or selfportraits like the ‘facehookers’ and recently the series ‘I used to be sexy’.

2005 – ongoing – sizes vary but most of them are around 30cm x40cm – Human hair & paraffin paper
